Friday, April 12, 2013 at 07:40AM Myself and Kirsty Gaughan have been working with Save the Family, a charity who help families in crisis to stay together by providing accomadation and support, to create an exciting new kind of charity shop! The project aims to reinvent the drab charity shop into a welcoming and asethically pleasing space and give artists an alternative venue to the traditional gallery setting.

Hi there blog-finder! I'm Heather and I'm running for Women's Officer at Glyndwr this year. I'm on the Design Practice MA making this my fourth year in Wrexham. I'm really excited by the posibility of doing some really great proactive and useful work should I get the position; so I hope I can count on your vote!
If you have an issue that you'd like me to raise or a question you'd like to ask, you can get in touch with me via my contacts page.
My Manifesto (Or Womanifesto if you're into over-used puns... which I mostly am.)
In the role of Women’s Officer I would:
· Support the work of other liberation officers in their roles; there are disabled, LGBTQ and non-white, non-British women within the university so there’s plenty of scope for teamwork
· Show awareness of and sensitivity to the range of women attending the university and recognize their separate needs and views; rather than lumping them together as “women”
· Be proactive in gathering qualitative data about the differing gender-related experiences at Glyndwr and in listening to students about their concerns and ideas
· Introduce breast-feeding friendly stickers to all Glyndwr cafes and canteens and ensure that the university has robust policies in support of student parents
· Increase collaboration between the university and local and national women’s organisations to create sustainable and beneficial relationships that would give students more volunteering opportunities and access to better information
· Continue to build upon and improve current university schemes to promote women’s health issues and knowledge about contraception and sexual health
· Educate the student population about enthusiastic consent and dispel myths surrounding rape and sexual assault
· Ensure that Glyndwr policies on gender equality and sexual harassment are known to students and staff, that the course of action for anyone wanting to report is clear and that robust structures are in place
· Create awareness of the post of Women’s Officer and the work of the Guild amongst the student population
· Make the best possible use of Art & Design students for generating promotional/ awareness materials and documenting events to improve integration between Main Campus and Regent Street
